Quota International of Santa Fe Charitable Trust Scholarship Awards

The Betty Shockey Memorial Scholarship Fund began in 2000 by the family of Quota International of Santa Fe member, Betty Shockey as a memorial. Mrs. Shockey was passionate about providing equal opportunities in education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

The scholarship is awarded annually to students continuing their education beyond high school who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing or to hearing students preparing to work with Deaf, Hard of Hearing or those with speech difficulties. Potential recipients must meet the criteria set forth by Quota International of Santa Fe.

Members of Quota International of Santa Fe, are pleased to announce The Betty Shockey Memorial Scholarship Fund Recipients for 2018: Vergena Chee and Augusta Skoog.

Scholarship Recipient 2018: Vergena Chee

Vergena is a recent graduate of the New Mexico School for the Deaf. She will attend Gallaudet University starting in the Fall of 2018. Vergena will study Social Work or a related field.

Scholarship Recipient 2016, 2017 & 2018: Augusta Skoog

Augusta is currently Attending Gallaudet University in Washington DC. Her main area of study/major is Education. Her intention is to become a teacher.

While funds awarded do not cover the entire expense of a post-secondary education, they do assist in defraying the expenses associated with a post-secondary education. Donations to support this program are welcome.
